About Egg Freezing

If you are facing infertility or looking to prolong your fertility, egg freezing could be a solution. This process offers potential benefits including:

  • Preservation of Eggs
  • Additional Storage Options
  • Reduced Costs

Our extensive experience in the egg freezing process allows us to address common questions and concerns including detailing the process, associated risks, and the expectations for a successful outcome.

Until recently, egg freezing has been relatively rare because few medical practices have the experience or capability to offer this service. At Fertility CARE: The IVF Center, we have a proven track record of producing favorable results.

Benefits of Egg Freezing

Vitrification is the new and revolutionary process of freezing embryos replacing the “slow-freeze” method. Most importantly, the more rapid freezing method of vitrification avoids damaging ice crystal formation in the high water content egg.

There are multiple benefits associated with egg freezing including:

  • Preservation of Eggs

Pregnancy rates through vitrification have significantly improved, and egg freezing/thawing success is approaching the outcome in fresh cycles. This is ideal for cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy, which actual accelerates the loss of eggs.

  • Reduced Costs

The formation of donor “egg banks” helps facilitate and lessen the cost of egg donation in women unable to produce viable eggs. Therefore, possibly eliminating the current practice of using fresh eggs, which carries some risks of transmitting infectious diseases.

  • Additional Storage Options

Egg cryostorage allows women to extend their reproductive options by preserving eggs for later use.

Results of Egg Freezing

Pregnancy outcomes of oocyte (egg) cryopreservation in cancer patients are still limited.

The report on the safety of oocyte cryopreservation shows no increase in congenital abnormalities in 900 babies born from thawed oocytes when compared to naturally conceived infants.

No longer considered experimental by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Fertility CARE: The IVF Center offers this exciting new technology in egg freezing.
